  BY CHRONICLE METALKILLER

The "super-groups" in the prog is a constant since the seventies, our favorite music has always produced some great musicians to the ego that sometimes over-sized feeling a bit restricted within their respective groups, teeming with ideas and inspiration and can not express everything in their respective training, experiencing then occasionally need to escape from their usual musical world, to unite with other tenors super prog band of the moment.
experience has not always been successful ... This is not because one is a genius in his field, the association with other virtuosos birth to a masterpiece ...
are many examples, remember "Asia" for example: Super rock band formed in 1981 by former members of Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and King Crimson, a group highly anticipated at its inception in 1982, is surprised that fans of rock progressive with his first pop album-oriented ... Since that time other super-groups have sprung up sporadically, but as the saying goes "fool me once, shame on Cold ... The metaphor is easily transferable to prog-addicts which I am one, and since those halcyon days of the seventies distrust is de rigueur at every announcement of the arrival of a "super group" because we suspect always the first mercantile side of the event announced.

But back on topic ... and talk to us today that the exit end of 2009 the third achievement of a supergroup Transatlantic. You Wondering if METALKILLER has not taken one step behind, chronicling an album issued a year ago and a half? In fact this column was prepared at the time, but having had neglecting my blog (death in the soul) for over a year, I could never put it online ... But better late than never, the fault is repaired since I finally decided to write this column, which still remains valid since TRANSATLANTIC, just released the live tour under the title Whirld Tour 2010. And as always, it does not pretend, as it is undeniable that Transatlantic expresses his immense talent much better live studio when ..
On The Whirlwind, we simply offer Transatlantic his best album if we could have some criticisms to make on the two preceding album, which despite all of our 4 class cronies who grafted their talents without ulterior motives and balance the basic ingredients of an ultra-typed prog added to the talent of these clean 4 giants of progressive rock that is Neal Morse (ex-Spock's Beard), Pete Trewavas (Marillion, Kino), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) and Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater). One felt that these gentlemen very busy with their respective groups and their projects did not release their full creative potential, probably because of time. both games are to my taste too typed "Spock's Beard and The Flower Kings ". But are still excellent.
On this concept album, you feel perfectly well that our buddies have finally taken the time to develop themes in going after their ideas releasing completely without trying to pull the cover to one or the other, even if still there is no denying that Neil Morse seems still and always be the primary link in this talented machinery, it is obvious that if the gentleman is a great songwriter (listen to his albums in Spock's Beard or his various solo albums). There is also a great singer who naturally amplifies the compounds of the group because of its ability to make sense of hyper-emotional music, vampirizing thus the whole group.
With "The Whirlwind", Transatlantic, offers us a work, sincere majestic, incomparable beauty, or creativity, multiple inventions are featured confirming the ability of this wonderful mind blowing supergroup that despite the criticism and doubt, proves once and for all which is a "TRUE", "BIG", "GROUP" of progressive rock.
This album has been over a year of age, I advise you So instead of buying their latest work available in stores, Transatlantic: Whirld Tour 2010 ", the live tour. A huge multi-storey cake , which consists of two DVDs and 3 Audio CD's, or you'll be able to appreciate the immense talent of Transatlantic live, If you have not had a chance to see both in concert Transatlantic dvd we will certainly want to go see this band on stage. As for the audio group we offer a triple album representing three hours of great music proving once and for all that Transatlantic is primarily a group made for the live ..... this new album is just huge ...
Euhhh .... ;-) I almost forgot the icing on the cake already very tasty, a guest came to perfect this dream quartet in the person of Daniel Gildenlöw great leader and multi-instuments of Pain of Salvation (one of my favorite groups) .
... HUGE, I tell you !!!!!
